Endemic Bird: Ethiopia’s Black-Winged Lovebird

Image

Since it is a wedding season here in Ethiopia, it seems like love is floating in the air than ever before and of course because of the very fact that the other part of the world is celebrating St. Valentine’s Day, I am being inspired to present the Ethiopian endemic black-winged lovebird from all of the 835 species of birds identified to occur in Ethiopia and from the 23 which are found solely within the country and share pictures of these beautiful birds which are taken at Bahr Dar in this particular post.

This small green parrot of the Ethiopian highland is broadly spread in western and southern highlands, and in the Rift Valley forest patches and woodlands. Finally, in the honor of LOVE, I think it would be appropriate to embellish the pictures with profound love quotes by Rumi.
